Community Church Services Calvert City
Oct/Nov: The Calvert City Community Church is meeting the months of October and November at the Calvert City Civic Center. Fellowship is at 10 am and Bible study of the book of Matthew is at 10:30. Everyone is invited to attended.
Campground Halloween Weekend at Kentucky Dam Village
Oct. 20-21: The annual Campground Halloween Weekend will be returning to Kentucky Dam Village this year on Friday and Saturday, October 20-21. This spook-tacular weekend offers Halloween fun for the whole family and is open to both campers and non-campers. The weekend kicks off Friday evening with a Halloween Critters Live Animal Show at 7pm in the campground. On Saturday, activities include a Halloween kids craft, hayrides, campground trick-or-treating, a costume and campsite decorating contest, and Halloween storytelling around the campfire. Participants who want to participate in trick-or-treating should please bring candy to give out. Aurora Fall Festival
Oct. 20-22: The three day event will run from October 20 through October 22. There will be arts and crafts vendors, demonstrations by local artisans, flea market and of course, tasty food.Local entertainers will take to the stage during the event and the parade will step-off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Pink Ribbon Walk-Calvert City-Oct. 21
Oct. 21: The 9th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Calvert City Pink Ribbon Walk will be Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 – 11 AM.
Orders are now being taken for T-shirts, signs and Sponsorships. Deadline is approaching for these to be finalized to have time for the printing of sponsorship signs to be placed around Calvert City and along the route.
Items available in support are: T-shirts (must be paid for in advance). Sizes youth 6-8 thru Adult XL for $10; Larger sizes available also. Long-sleeved are also available starting at $13.
‘In Memory of’ or ‘In Honor of’ signs $10 and printed for any type of cancer to be placed along route. Sponsorships are $25 to be a Bronze Sponsor; $50 for Silver; $100 for Gold; and over $100 is a Diamond Sponsor. Contact a committee member to specify what your sign should say.

Same day registration for the walk will also be available at the Calvert City Civic Center on Fifth Avenue from 7:45 – 8:45 AM. The walk will begin at 9:00 AM. Co-sponsored by West KY Avon Independent Sales Representatives and the City of Calvert City.
As in years past, there will be a silent auction, door prizes, awards and refreshments to follow. Everyone is invited and again the Ladies Golf Association will have golf carts available for those who need to ride. Please let a committee member know in advance so there will be enough carts. With help from business, sponsorships and contributions, funds that were raised last year were contributed to Kentucky Pink Connection. This organization keeps the donation in Kentucky and is marked for breast cancer survivors in the western Kentucky area. The Avon representatives will be out again collecting for this event.
11th Annual Mint Springs USA Music Fest
Oct. 21: If you love Rock’N Roll…this is the place to be on October 21. 3 bands and show starts at 5:00 p.m. Headliner is the Tyler Porch Band from Atlanta, Georgia. Lourdes providing free monthly Advance Directives seminar
Nov. 1: Lourdes will offer a free monthly Advance Directives Seminar in the Heritage Room on the first floor of Lourdes Hospital. The seminar will be from 2 – 3:30 p.m. Advance Directives documents your wishes concerning medical treatments at the end of life. This seminar will help answer questions, clarify concerns related to Advance Directives and also help you complete your living will and have it documented in your medical records. This monthly seminar is free and open to anyone who is 18 years of age and older and will be held on the first Wednesday of the month. For more information, call 270-444-2834.
Father & Son Basketball Camp
Nov. 4: The MCHS coaching staff will be hosting a one day “Father & Son” basketball camp this year. This camp will provide a great opportunity for dad’s and son’s to work together on the court as a team. If you are interesting in attending, an application has been attached. You may also pick up applications at any of the elementary and middle schools within the district. The camp date is set for November 4th at the high school, and will last from 1:00-4:00. One highlight will be a meal provided at the end of camp, along with a guest speaker. Do to availability, only the first 60 Father/Son pairs to enroll (with application and payment) will be accepted.
