Fundraiser for Victims of Allendale Apartment fire
Sept. 24 AND 26: Fundraiser for all of the Allendale Residents that lost their homes in the Wednesday morning apartment fire. All residents suffered a complete loss.
Stop by Benton Drive In on September 24th AND 26th. Starting at 7:00 a.m. the Benton Drive In will serve breakfast platters for $5.00 each with proceeds going to help the needs of residents through local non-profit organization, God’s Promises. Platters include biscuits & gravy, eggs, bacon and a drink. (Other options may be available on both days). All Allendale residents eat free.

Calvert City Elementary to hold Annual Car Wash
Sept. 29: Calvert City Elementary students will again hold their annual car wash on Friday, September 29, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the bus lanes by the staff parking lot. All funds raised will go towards rewards for student behavior for their Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies Program. All donations are greatly appreciated! Please take your cars and trucks and support Calvert City Elementary students for this fun event. Students will wash cars during the following times:
8:00 a.m. – 2nd grade
9:00 a.m. – Kindergarten
10:00 a.m. – 5th grade
12:00 noon – 3rd grade
1:00 p.m. – 4th grade

Paint the Town Pink-Benton
Sept. 30: The 10th annual Paint the Town Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Benton will be held Saturday, September 30 at 9:00 a.m. at the Benton Plaza. There will be guest speakers, Pink Pumpkin Painting Contest, Balloon Release and the Awareness Walk. Proceeds to benefit KY Cancer Link, Marshall County Hospital and Beads of Courage. Camp Meeting at Pentecostal Tabernacle

Oct. 5: West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative will host a Member Appreciation Day at its Benton office on Thursday, October 5. Co-op employees will be serving free hamburgers and hotdogs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking area outside the office, located at 1767 Mayfield Hwy., Suite D. There will also be door prizes, giveaways, and the chance for members to learn more about their electric cooperative. Everyone is encouraged to stop by for food and fun. American Legion Post 217 Route 60 Yard Sale Spots available
Oct 5, 6, 7: American Legion Post 217 Auxiliary, 1360 US 60 W, Burna (located beside middle school), will hold a Large Yard Sale during the route 60 yard sale event. Lots of donations from members and friends in the community. Funds raised will be used in helping community members as well as our veterans and military. This is always a great event and for the first time, offering the community a chance to set up a sale on our memorial garden. For $10 per day, you may set up and offer your goods right on route 60. Lourdes providing free monthly Advance Directives seminar
Oct. 4: Lourdes will offer a free monthly Advance Directives Seminar in the Heritage Room on the first floor of Lourdes Hospital. The seminar will be from 2 – 3:30 p.m. Advance Directives documents your wishes concerning medical treatments at the end of life. This seminar will help answer questions, clarify concerns related to Advance Directives and also help you complete your living will and have it documented in your medical records. Pink Ribbon Walk-Calvert City-Oct. 21
Oct. 21: The 9th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Calvert City Pink Ribbon Walk will be Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 – 11 AM.
Orders are now being taken for T-shirts, signs and Sponsorships. Deadline is approaching for these to be finalized to have time for the printing of sponsorship signs to be placed around Calvert City and along the route.
Items available in support are: T-shirts (must be paid for in advance). Sizes youth 6-8 thru Adult XL for $10; Larger sizes available also. Long-sleeved are also available starting at $13.
‘In Memory of’ or ‘In Honor of’ signs $10 and printed for any type of cancer to be placed along route. Sponsorships are $25 to be a Bronze Sponsor; $50 for Silver; $100 for Gold; and over $100 is a Diamond Sponsor. Contact a committee member to specify what your sign should say.

As in years past, there will be a silent auction, door prizes, awards and refreshments to follow. Everyone is invited and again the Ladies Golf Association will have golf carts available for those who need to ride. Please let a committee member know in advance so there will be enough carts. With help from business, sponsorships and contributions, funds that were raised last year were contributed to Kentucky Pink Connection. This organization keeps the donation in Kentucky and is marked for breast cancer survivors in the western Kentucky area. The Avon representatives will be out again collecting for this event.
